If the NCSC could get all users of whatever size to do one thing well it would be patching of known vulnerabilities.

Hackers have access to the same data as the rest of us. They can simply exploit known weaknesses in order to realise a breach. The race is therefore on to keep ahead of the essential patching backlog and scanners help direct this effort.
